I have played some of the earlier tube / solid state hybrids and didn't like em however some people love the AVTs and others hate em.
Have a go in the shop, come back a week later, have another go and if you like it, buy it !

If a modern Marshall sound is what you're going for, then I would probably go for it. I used to have the AVT275, which sounded great.
