Where have all the Heros gone??
If youre into the metal scene, check out Children of Bodom! A great freakin band and Alexi Lahio could be the hero youre looking for. He not only does lead vocals, but lead guitar as welll. I think theyre a ridiculously talented band and Alexi is the quintessential rock star.

A lot of you guys are so busy following the media bandwagon, listening to big names and signed bands that you assume anybody else who doesn't already have a huge contract must automatically suck.

Radio does suck....The only radio station's I listen too are classic rock stations that don't play all the new crap. I still believe the downfall of music came with MTV (emp-tv). Another band that has awesome guitar work is Mastodon (or Mastadon, can't remember the spelling right now).
Check out my band:

At least MTV2 brought back Headbanger's Ball. I was still too young when the original was on, but they play some cool stuff on there. A couple guys from Mastadon were actually on the show a few weeks ago. But metal bands should stick to making music, cuz most of the videos are pretty lame lol. My local rock station also has a segment on sunday nights called "Into the Pit" which is of course dedicated to the heaviest of metal!

Im going to have to go with Children of bodom for everything that the band is, everyone is talented, think of dream theater that has been fused with Black metal. i dont know any of the lyrics to the songs, i know the melodys and solos by heart. Alexi is my hero thats for sure.

When we talk about heros and heroine,I think emphasis needs to be laid on some afican kings that are very good but lack international exposures.
I was very happy when one of the best guitarist we have in my counrty Nigeria got to America,he was quickly introduced to to George Benson who proclaimed he never knew there are very good guitarists in africa, meanwhile, all I am saying is that we need an international exhibition which would bring together some other good guitarists around the world together so that we can get to meet .
There are good guitarists in africa only they can be known through international ehibitions.I will therefore implore international promoters to please do something in bringing these artistes together.
Thank you.

You'll want to take a look at this.
The variety of artists and musical styles they bring together for that is simply amazing.

I think if you're looking beyond the technique, but rather into the inspiration there are some pretty good bands (with pretty good guitarrists) out there. Maybe some of these power chord band guitar players may not utilize all the talent they have, becasue it just doesn't fit into their talent. I could be wrong, but I don't honestly know.
I don't know but Modest Mouse and Incubus are my heroes! :D
