I have an AVT 150 head and I'd like to use it with just headphones with no cab attached because I don't really have room for it right now. I've heard that there is a device that can be plugged into the head to replace the 4 or 8 ohm load of the cab with out damaging the tube.

anyone know of something like this and where I can get it.

thanks

It is called a load box or a speaker attenuator.

I use a marshall power break 100 with my TSL.

These puppies do suck a little tone however I can honestly say mine makes my life a lot easier.

Also: THD hot plate

and the ATTY

ya, I've seen the power brake.
It's a little more than what I'm looking for. It costs about half of what I paid for the head.
I just need something that acts as an 8 ohm load and thats it--just like a big resistor.

Can you run the power brake with out any speaker attached to it?

I just didnt know if there was some fairly inexpensive thing that could be plugged into the head just so I don't need speakers plugged in to run it with out blowing the tube.

Yep, if you wind the PB up to "infinite" attenuation it will act as a load box. There may well be a cheap alternative but I really don't want to give you the wrong advice and cause your head to explode !

Lordathestrings will probably know !
