I'll give you the formulae for the ones I mentioned:
Hirajosi: 1,2,b3,5,b6,8
Hungarian Minor (or Super Locrian) 1,2,b3,#4,5,b6,7,8
Neapolitan major 1,b2,b3,4,5,6,7,8
THeres all kinds of exotic scales out there
Ecstasis, do you ever use any exotic modes when you get bored of the common modes?
Ever tried ones like Hiroshi, Hungarian minor, Neapolitan etc....? I do sometimes,
one thing I do, if I use pentatonics I use the intervals to get an "exotic" sound instead of the usual bluesier sound, it is cool and tweaks people's ears.
I've never heard of those scales - explain them if you would, please. The only 'odd' scales I use on a regular basis would be the ones in my section - my name's Erik, by the way. I do use pentatonics to create progressive, sort of freaky sounds.
