Crazy train (off Blizzard of Oz) is always a good place to start or some Hendrix (like Wind Cries Mary).

Crazy Train is a little tricky but sounds harder than it is. You will get there with a little practice and it is nice as it is one of those songs that has many intricate little fills that you can get stuck into once you have mastered the main verse rif and solo !

Iron Man from black sabbath is another pretty easy one to learn. Many sabbath songs are. If your into Korn, they have pretty simple songs to play as well, but they use 7 strings, of course that can be arranged for a six string too.
Shook me all night long, by ACDC is another easy one that everyone knows. Many acdc songs are very simple to learn and play.
Theres always Stairway to Heavon too, just dont play it in a music store (so Ive read) it annoys people. I shy away from playing any cover tunes in music shops actually. Any way, hope these few examples are helpful. You can usually find decent tabs for them around the net too.

You could all shoot for Metallica's remake of The Prince or Bliztkreig. On that note, you could try Countdown to Extiction by Megadeth, Everlong by Foo Fighters, or Cry by Norther.

As for Crazy Train - I always thought it was a hard song to play until I acctually got into it. After reading Dr. Simon's post to learn it I decided I try it again after not doing so well a while back. The fills are wicked fun, and the solo is pretty easy as well.
