For those of you using PC's, I strongly urge you to stop using Internet Explorer if you are doing so. It is highly insecure and is the constant target of virus attacks and spyware.

Mozilla has come forth with a new browser called Firefox, and I highly recommend you start using it instead. It does not allow ActiveX software from being run which is the source of many spyware attacks in Internet Explorer. It is also compliant with current web standards, enabling web designers, like myself, to implement language standards that will be display content the same across all platforms.

Download it here, and kiss spyware goodbye.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that firefox link was a virus or had spyware connected to it. ;) ;)

This is one of the two big reasons I have started a Powerbook fund for myself. The other being Pro Tools runs like s*** on Windows.

I use Mozilla Firefox and I'm very satisfied with it.

I don't know whether or not its any faster, if you're on a broadband connection on a decent machine, it should be about the same really. But as far as supporting web standards goes, Firefox and Mozilla are far ahead of IE, especially in supporting CSS2 and the coming CSS3. There are a lot of little bugs in IE in it's CSS support that are so aggrivating, so I come up with all sorts of workarounds since the vast majority are using IE, when firefox displays it no prob. It's just a hassle, really.

I downloaded Firefox 2 or 3 days ago after discovering that, while using my computer, my boss installed some kind of spyware toolbar which was seriously ruining my internet experience and slowing down my computer majorly. I tried uninstalling it, to no avail, then I remembered this thread. So, thanks a bunch, Eric!

Anyways, I totally vouch for this browser's quality and superiority over IE. Many little features that are exactly what I found lacking in IE, like a superior "find" function. Also, it has a wicked "search engine" toolbar, where you can search ebay, Google, dictionary.com or a bunch of other sites, and you can even go the the mozilla developers site and add other engines. There are other cool features that I like, but I can't remember them right now.

Oh, and it was totally easy to switch over from IE, it automatically brought over my Favourites, saved passwords and even my History folder!
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Wouldn't it be funny if clicking this thread led to about five thousand popups and a computer crash? I think it would.

The fact that there are people who would find such an event to be funny is why there's such a market for firewall and A-V software!

I've been using Firefox for about a month now and can never see myself going back to IE. Tabbed browsing rules!
