[font=trebuchet ms]I've done that for many years as a way to control the stiffness of a thin pick. Because the index finger is a bit smaller, the pick is not quite as stiff as when you use the middle finger. If you have both fingers on one side, and press your thumb firmly against the other side, the pick will become curved instead of flat, making it much stiffer. I find that this gives me the best of both worlds when I play a song that has both fast strumming and single-note picking.[/font]
