Some general rules to follow if you'd like to post here at Guitar Tricks

#1) Constantly circumventing or abusing the language filter by posting obscene language is definitely not allowed. Occasionally if it's part of a joke or if there's a specific purpose to getting a humorous point across it's fine ...up to a point.
But inciting anger or flaming someone with things like "bull****", or purposely altering the spelling of words like "f u * *" etc... is not allowed... period.
Replacing letters in obscene words that are obvious attempts to circumvent the language filter will get you banned. ie, you are not allowed to use spellings such as f-u, f-er, mother f-r etc...

#2) Saying outright that someone sucks or coming down on other members for their views... ie, trying to incite an argument or a flame attack is not allowed... period.

#3) There is no racism or other derogatory terms allowed at all....period

#4) Spamming the board with advertisements or crossposting in several forum areas is not allowed...period

#5) If you receive a notice from a moderator about your conduct, don't argue or make sarcastic comments. You'll already be on thin ice and doing something like that might just be the last straw.

#6) If you are temporarily banned, DO NOT sign up or register under an alternate name so that you can continue posting. We track usage by IP addresses and if we find that you have done so, we will turn your temporary ban into a permanent ban by IP. Which basically means that the computer you're using and any other computers using the same IP will never be able to register here again.

#7) The posting of copyrighted materials is prohibited.

#8) Inappropriate user names are not allowed, period. The same rules that apply to the forums also apply to the Username that you have signed up under. If we find for any reason that your username contains inappropriate language (ie, racist remarks, shorthand versions of 'colorful language' etc..), your account will be banned and your IP address recorded. If it happens a second time you will be permanently banned by your IP address (see above) and an abuse complaint will be filed with your ISP provider.

9) Promoting or encouraging drug or alcohol abuse is strictly forbidden.

10) You are personally responsible for all posts made under your IP number.
In other words, every time you post here, we log what computer it came from.
If somebody borrows your computer, signs up under a different name and then breaks forum rules, you will also be held responsible.

The general USENET rules apply here. If you can't follow them, don't post here.

The moderators at Guitar Tricks stay pretty much on top of this sort of thing and will edit, remove or lock posts that break the rules.
People who break the rules will at first be warned by private message or email. Additional breaking of the rules will result in a 30 day ban and possible outright cancellation of your account.
We track IP numbers so we'll also complain to your ISP if we feel that it is warranted. For gross violations or illegal activities, we also inform the authorities and will consider legal action including the recovery of any of the resulting costs incurred.

When posting at Guitar Tricks...please be aware that this is a family board accesible by parents and their children, so act accordingly. In other words, if you normally couldn't say something in public, with children and parents around, then you aren't allowed to say it here either.

Also be aware that there are about 40 moderators who frequent this board on a daily basis 24/7. We keep track of questionable posts in the administration section and maintain a list of multiple offenders.
If we're talking about you in the administration section, it isn't a good thing.
