Hey i wanted to change the stock pickups on my ibanez. I have the RG 350 DX model. I wanted to change to Dimarzio pickups. I was looking that the Dimarzio Evolution, or the Super Distortion pickups. Does anyone recommend any of these. Please post comments. I play metal by the way. Also what does it mean when the pickups are f shaped. Thanks.

I would absolutely recommend the evolution. I have it on the bridge on an ibanez GAX 70 and it sounds great. I use it in combination with the dimarzio FRED. The Fred gives you the fat sound that the evolution doesnt give as much. The dimarzio site gives you sound clips and specs on all their pickups do so research if anything for yourself but the evolution sounds great. And i play metal myself. As for F spaced that just means the distance of the magnets from the strings. If you have a floating bridge like the floyd rose on your guitar you will probably want the pickups to be F-spaced. If you have a normal bridge than you are fine. Hope this helps.

I can't really suggest anything without more details as to what you want in the pickup. For example, I know a couple people here highly recommend the DiMarzio X2N and it would be a great metal pickup, but you might not like using something that hot or with that tonal balance.

Hey to both of you, thanks a lot you have really helped me. Do you think if for the bridge i went with the super distortion and the neck i went with evolution, would that be ok.

As for that, thats all a matter of taste there. The bridge you are not gonna get as much of a heavier sound as you well at the neck. The evolution in MY opinion works much better as a bridge pickup because its made for more soloing and licks. Just take that into consideration. Super distortion would make a nice neck pickup so you can get that crunch. To be honest i've heard guitar techs say that it honestly doesnt make a huge difference so that it doesnt matter.
