the soloist is an awsome guitar... but from the looks of it, its out yours, and my price limits..
i have a jackson dinky dx10d, its a VERY stable guitar. I am impressed with the neck joint, i didnt have to put shims in, the neck was strait, the tuners are nice, the floyd rose, while not being a real one, is pretty solid, it hasnt worn away or anything. i like the inlays, a lot of companies, like esp have machines that punch in inlays, jackson has a machine that routes the inlay space and then the luthers put the frets in themselves. i beleive the fret tang is cut about a 16th of an inch from the outer part of the neck, so that wont shoot out at you no matter what climates your in. the jackson pickups are nice stock pickups, and if your looking at a higher quality guitar, you can change em out.. saves you a few,and your guitar stillis nice..
in my opinion, jackson guitars are built $100 better than they should be like... a jackson 300 dollar guitar is like a esp 400 dollar guitar..

a lot of people thing that jacksons quality has gone down since fender bought them. Jacksons quality is equal to better now that fender has bought them. they did change the floyd rose tremolos a little bit, but theyre more updated now.

I have only played recent jackson so i cant speak for previous years and i must say that there quality is tight, above and beyond fender, and light years beyond gibson.

my 2 cents
