Hello everyone,

You've all given good advice before... so I figured I'd go to you guys again. A friend of mine is looking for an electric. His first choice was a Turner Model 1 but the only place that even had one to look at (that I found) was Ed Roman Guitars... I'd heard the worst things about him and not to mention the price was up there...

He's looking for something that has a nice clean almost acoustic sound but will also play a little dirty. He's really into Fleetwood Mac (if you couldn't tell from the Turner) and likes to fingerpick. The first axe I was thinking of for him was an American Tele... I think they sound great for fingerpickin and you can also rock pretty well with them... I wanted to be able to recommend a few choices. He also wants something that just looks wierd... ya know.. something that not everyone has.. tele's are all over...

any good ideas?

thanks!!!

My personal favourite guitar in terms of looks:

Here's a link to some info on Korg reissues of Vox guitars (they're the owners of the Vox name):

Here are some ebay links for a couple of "Jay Turser" knock-offs:

White - http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=64403&item=3742544946&rd=1

Here's one made by Eastwood for $399:

... and that's all I have to say about that.

I'll pass along the links you gave.

I'm thinking that he'll like that turser because it's certainly odd enough looking.. howzabout playability??? anyone ever tried one of those monstrosities?

I've never tried it myself. Here's a link to the harmony-central reviews:
http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Eastwood/Specter-6-01.html

No reviews of the Jay Turser models, as far as I could tell, but the specs seem impressive, esp. the real Bigsby trem. Plus, the ebay guy is giving free shipping in the States.

I was thinking that someone would have shouted "KRAMER!!!" by now... I'm pretty disappointed!!! :(
... and that's all I have to say about that.

hahahahaa....
well, if nothing else, it's certainly different...

If I recommend that one, do you think he'll say that I'm questioning his sexuality?

"just make sure you get the pink one, and lisp when you order it!"

LOL!

he's really looking for something that is not the norm. The Jay Turser looks like something that he'd go for... I'm hoping the daisy rock is NOT

but he's been asking about that Turner Model 1 and I advised that he'd either be waiting a looooooong time to get one, or paying a sh*tload more for it...

he told me he's looking for something around $300-$600 usd....

If you're gonna get a tele, but still want that acoustic sound get the Aerodyne Tele. Its got a carved (maple I think) top which gives it that sort of acoustic ring. has a P-90 in the neck and vintage style tele pickup in the bridge. looks awesome too. sounds like what he's looking for. runs for about 650 USD. (its japanese, but so what)
