What amp to buy?
I'm going to buy a new amp, I've narrowed the choices down to: Fender Frontman 15R, Marshall MG15CDR and Peavey Transtube Blazer 158. All are 15W, not using it for a band, just a practice amp at home, all about the same price. I like the CD input feature that allows you to play along with songs. I'm not sure which oneto buy, I'm leaning toward the Fender but have heard good and bad about all three. Anyone have one of these? Any opinions, good and bad? Thanks

I have a Marshall MG15II micro-stack (270 USD).
It is fantastic, best amp I have ever owned and over the last 20 years I have owned a fiew (4 marshalls, a fender, a Peavey and a Laney).
I am not using it for gigging (I will get me a TSL100 for that).
My only criticism is that the emulated line out is crap.

Can you put the last sentence in laymans terms. I'm not sure what that means, I'm fairly new at this. Thanks. I would think you'd go with the Marshall.

What's with the emulated line out that you don't like?

I sounds crap !
To get a reasonable signal to noise ratio you have to wind the amp right up (which you can do with the headphones jack in) however as you turn up all the EQ changes.
I shot strait into my D1200 and had to turn the gain right up on the recorder after cranking the amp which ultimately lead to a crappy sounding recording.
It is however great with a large diaphragm condenser in front of it even at relatively low volumes.

Fender Frontman sucks. Pretty loud, though.
... and that's all I have to say about that.
