... do you play a (chord?) that looks like this on a tab?

Is there a technique to do this using a pick or is it implying you should be using your fingers?

all you have to do is simply to mute the other strings with your index finger ;)

but ofcourse you can also use your fingers.

depends if you fingerpick or dont. I you do, just use you fingers, if you dont, mute all the stings exept those 2

One technique is to play the bottom note with your pick and the top with one of your free fingers. I've seen Eric Johnson and other do this. The helpful thing is that you can play these types of chords without having that *click* from muted strings in between or having to "hide" your pick for a second (I personally like to keep my pick kind of in my mouth while fingerpicking).
