That's cool but when i last saw Rush live they were really sloppy, and they were just too hammered to play good. I guess if you really like sloppy play then they would be the band to see, but don't go expecting a great show.

I saw them June 6th this year

It was an amazing show and my ears are still ringing from it

they played a lot of songs from feedback which was cool and brought back some olds ones that was really good (Xanadu, awesome)

they also cut out some really cool songs, but thats ok

But i don't believe Rush can play sloppy, they play songs live the exact way you would hear them on the record

They are sloppy, and the entire show i felt wasn't well exacuted compared to like G&R or the maiden concerts i've been to.

Dude... Rush hammered? Can't imagine that... anyways, Rush "hammered" is like GNR when they're sober...

I've never heard anyone else say they were sloppy. Maybe it was a bad venue and they couldn't hear each other. There's only 3 of them; how can 3 people be sloppy?
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Nice to see a Rush post

I'm going to see them September 9th in London....anyone from england going to that?

Rush hammered? Lol, well it could be possible, after all Alex did get himself arrested for a drunken punch-up not so long ago :D

George_Lynch I've seen Iron Maiden too, if Rush can live up to them I'll be impressed.

yeah, really. Rush hammered??
I saw em years ago and somebody threw a bag of pot up on stage and Neil Peart turned it upside down and emptied it out.
I figured they were totally against getting wasted at shows.

Has anyone ever watched, The Trailer Park Boys? Alex was on the show a year or two ago for a cameo and ended it with a guitar duet of sorts with one of the stars (Bubbles if you know the show).
What I don't understand is the fact that Rush are Canadian but I hear about US tour dates WAY more often then canadian ones. I understand that they make more money in the states and all but still... It would be nice to be able to see them live at least once.
Jimmie showed me alot of stuff, but there was a time when he warned, 'If you ask me to show you anything again, I'll kick your ass.' Well, I did and he did. - SRV

I hear a Rush concert in toronto is like the most crazy concert scene in the world

there's supposed to be mass canadian style riots and stuff

Hmm... actually, I don't think many of us really notice when Rush plays here. And we never riot. What do you take us for, Americans?

Cool thing just happened this Monday - Kim Mitchell is the drive-home DJ on Q107, Toronto's classic rock station, from 2-7 p.m. It's a pretty cool show and makes my drives home more pleasurable.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Slightly sad though too...
It makes me wonder if maybe sales have dried up enough now that he's forced to get a day job to make ends meet.

Canadian musicians.. the pariahs of the entertainment industry.

Yeah, I was just thinking of that, too, but he's going on tour this year, and he does at least one summer concert a year. That plus Max Webster royalties (he had 6 gold or platinum records with Max Webster) should pay his bills, no?

And that would be "see me at my new job at Tim Hortons"!!
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Hard to say.
Gold and Platinum in Canada isn't the same number as the U.S. Tours usually break even or lose money and royalties on 20 year old albums that everybody already has can't be a whole lot.

I just remember reading all these horror stories about musicians from Canada making it big and ending up with little or nothing to show for it.
I'm only quoting from old memories but I think I read somewhere that Rush didn't start making money until their 5th or 6th album. I vaguely remember reading about a Toronto band that was pretty big (Breakfast Club?) and in the interview the female lead singer was still living in a one room apartment over a store. A Juno award for one band was up for sale in a pawn shop for $55 and most people I know would refer to them as Celine Dion door stops.

Yeah, sounds pretty accurate for Canada. We suck. America is 10x as big, so if someone has, say, 0.05% of the population as fans, that would be about 17,000 fans in Canada, but 170,000 fans in the US. Just the huge population alone makes it more worthwhile to be in a band in the States than in Canada, not even mentioning the difference in publicity generation in the States vs. Canada.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

But in the end, CANADA still produces many of the best musicians in the world!!! we may not have the resorces to make them rich but, we have the talent to be rich when they go to the STATES!!!! Thus CANADIAN musicians kik ass!!! :D
