i started playing about 2.5 months ago and so far i have the 7 basic chords down as well as about 7-10 others pretty much down. I also know 4 scales, i can play the open scale and the A minor petatonic at the 5th, 7th and 10th frets. Currently im working on barre chords. I want to be able to play a good lead someday. So my question is, based on my progression so far, where should i go next? any and all input is appreciated, thx :D
would like some advice on where to go next

hmm you must be pretty motivated to get all that down in 2.5 months. What kind of music do you like? How many hours do you spend on practice? How many do you spend on playing music? I used to practice, but i found it more fun just to learn new songs. You have the basics down and thats great. Start playing songs of styles that you like. Let me know what style you like and mabye i can offer some input on songs that are well adjusted to someone like you.

my choices of music are pretty broad... i listen to classic rock, alternative, modern rock, grunge, punk, i like stuff form all of them. any songs u could suggest would be great... i play over an hour a day total maybe more because i work at a summer camp and i bring an axe with me to mess around with during the day. mostly i practice my chords by playing songs that incorporate what i want to practice and i just play my scales straight up and down a bunch of times.... btw thanks schmange those scales will keep me busy :D
also i just got an electric.. its a standard strat... if anyone could help me with some electric basics like when to use the different pick-up settings (theres 5) and why the tone controls (2 of those) dont seem to do anything that would be cool too.

recently ive been having a kind of shooting "funny bone" tingling pain that starts in my wrist and goes up my hand, will this go away with strength or am i doing something wrong?

about the funny bone.... i had a similar feeling once it went away after a day of constant buzzing...on the inside of my arm...
if u think ur doing something wrong see how u FEEL when ur playing... physically that is.
I cant help you about where to go, cus i odnt know where i am hehehhe

Something about your posture is causing problems for your muscles and/or causing pinched nerves. Carefully examine what you're doing, and how you're positioned, so that you can stop doing whatever is causing this tingling.[/font]

If your strumming they recommand to strum from the elbow. If not make sure your aligned properly with a straight back etc etc. Its ok to feel your wrist maybe sore from a rapid picking sessoin...but a shooting pain is not natural.
