Prog. Tone

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone of you knew what guitar is best for a progressive metal/rock style music? I'm trying to find a good 7 string that has a tone very similar to Petrucci's old Ibanez Picasso Guitars. Anyone know where to find a guitar that has that tone, is 7 string, and doesn't cost like the Ernie Ball Petrucci guitars.. (1200-1800, to be exact).
