I bought a yamaha 15" speaker and i plugged my amp into it from the back of the amp that says external speakers. So i plug it in and it works! but the speaker cabinet sounds so much different than the amp when i play it.

Normally when i play my amp i turn up the mids lows and highs up more and i also put on the thrash distortion on it because with it the amp sounds better. So then i plug i into the speaker and it sounds a little too thrashy and it just doesnt sound right but then i have to turn off the thrash to make it sound better. WHy is it doing this?
Is it because the amp's speaker is like bad, or is it because it is being played through a bigger speaker with a horn? i am very confused. and i am wondering whenever i want to play live, will miking the amp be ok or what, i dont know please help me! thanks
Mike ;)

Your new cab has a horn in it?

Woofer-and-tweeter setups are good for PA, but sound way harsh for guitar. I don't like them for bass either.

For guitar, the hot setup is cone-type speakers, the bigger the better. Some people prefer 10" speakers, but I like 12's, and I really like 15's.

IDK! there has to be an explanation....... i put the amp on Thrash and it doesnt sound too bad but once i plug it into a speaker the amp and the speakers become very thrashy, heck the amp hardly sounded thrashy anyways it just made the amp sound more full when i turned on the thrash but it just jumps to ultra thrash when plugged into speaker?  :(

*sigh* OK, please read this carefully:

No matter what kind of amp you have, a horn is going to sound very harsh. A cab with a speaker and a horn in it is meant for use with a PA or a stereo; something like that. It is not a good choice for a guitar amp.

Either use it for your PA or sell it!
