Description
Playing bursts is a good way to gain speed. You can apply this exercise to just about any patterns. The principle is simple. Instead of doing a long scale run, break it down and "burst" it.
Look at pattern 1. The pattern starts with a down stroke and it goes down-up-down and down on the next string. You can almost sweep the last two notes since they are both down strokes. Pattern 2 is the same except we add a note and finish on a upstroke. It's a good idea to practice exercise that don't always end on the same stroke so you practice stopping in both direction.
