Let's apply the "4 Thump". This technique will give you a "slap bass" and percussive approach to rhythm playing.

The basic technique is the Paradiddle, a percussion rudiment. For those of you who are unfamiliar, the pattern for the hands is:
R L R R (R = Right Hand, L = Left Hand).
If you are a left handed guitarist, then the pattern is:
L R L L

You'll also notice my muting system, but you don't have to have mutes to play this pattern.

I also will play this with a backing track using the quartal chords that we learned earlier (I told you they'd come back!). You'll notice the simple fingering of the quartal chords allows for greater ease with the 4 Thump.
