Description
In this tutorial we're going to explore a powerful approach to soloing that is centered around chord tones rather than key center scales. This is a great and classic sound that really ties in your lead lines closely with the harmony you're soloing over. This is all extremely useful for your overall lead playing and you also learn a lot about the layout of the chords shapes on the neck by exploring this.
I'll be using my Gretsch Duo Jet for this practice tune, on the bridge pickup, and I'll be running it through a small Fender amp with a bright tone and a little bit of reverb. In front of that I'm using this distortion pedal called "Mudhoney". But you can of course play this practice tune with any guitar and amp combination that you have available. Let's get started!
