Open Tunings Made Easy - Open D/E

Hey there and welcome to the Guitar Tricks Channel. My name is Anders and I'll be your host today. Before we get started, make sure you hit the subscribe button so you don't miss any of our future lessons. First let me start you off with a tip of the week:

My tip this week is to use a tuner app for your smartphone. You can buy them for a couple of bucks, and many of them are really, really good. That way you always have a tuner handy, whenever you have your phone.

In this lesson I'm going to try to demystify the concept of open tunings, cause that's a concept that so many people misunderstand. They think they have to adapt all the things they already know and therefore they get intimidated and overwhelmed by the open tunings. But open tunings are created to make certain specific things really easy, so you just have to look for what those things are and not worry about all the rest. This applies to any open tuning, but in this lesson I'll show how it works with open D-tuning. This is the same as the open E-tuning, only down a whole step.

I hope you're excited to go the open D and E-tuning some more on your own. If you liked this lesson, then GT has other lessons on how to use open tunings!
