Harmonizing

Harmonize is probably a word you hear a lot, weather its guitars, vocals, or a school band. They sound really cool, especially if you can harmonize a solo. Harmonized chords sound alright, but not great. You know the major scale right? If you don't, go learn it. Lets take a couple of notes in the key of C major (first tab) and harmonize them to the third interval. This means that we will take all the notes and count up to the third note away from it in the scale. For instance: an A (in the key of C maj.) would be harmonized up to a D. We started at A and went 1-B 2-C 3-D. Its that easy. The second tab is the harmonized piece. This can be done to any interval. 3rds and 5ths are most common and some just sound awful. Expermient with different intervals and find one you like. Grab a friend or some nice recording stuff and harmonize a solo. It sounds so cool!
