This is taken directly from Bach's Suite in a minor (originaly for lute in g minor), which i am currently studying on classical guitar
It might appeal to you neo-classical boys because it sounds cool with distortion. The challenging picking pattern may help improve picking agility. Malmsteen might play this sort of thing, i don't really know.
