This is an example of how a classical composer would use arpeggios.
I was inspired by Paganini and Steve Vai here. Take a look at the guitar duel at the end of the movie Crossroads, and you will hear Steve Vai (in the movie, Karate Kid does it) play part of Paganini's Caprice no. 5, which is also good practice!
