Description
Now we are going to take the arpeggio and scale ideas we've learned in the previous lessons and build some actual lines to play over our chord progression.
If we only play arpeggio chord tones, our lines, licks and solos would quickly get boring through monotony. The same problem happens if we only use scale notes in order as lead lines. So, the solution is to do exactly what Joe Pass did: mix and match them together in order to
get variety in our lead lines!
In this first pattern I play an ascending arpeggio pattern to start each measure, then a few descending scale notes to end each measure and dovetail into the next measure. The notes are carefully selected to outline not only the chord currently happening, but also the next chord
that happens.
