In this tutorial you will learn to expand the major scale patterns to visualize and play the major scale in multiple octaves across all 6 strings. We will start with the A major scale as an example and eventually play the major scale in all 12 keys. This tutorial has a companion tutorial that deals with the minor scale. Minor Scale Patterns Series 1 It is possible to play the same note in more than one place on the guitar. So guitarists must take the time to carefully map out all these possibilities. This is important because it can help us find the most efficient way to play any given series of notes.

In this previous tutorial we learned the three primary patterns that the scale forms. Then we practiced them with a backing track. Major Scale Patterns Series 1 In this tutorial we will apply those ideas to the higher strings to cover all 6 strings then the entire fretboard. We'll also play the scale in all 12 major keys.
