So once again we're in the key of E, and our harmony is E major for a full bar (which is our I-chord), then we have D major (which is our bVII) and A major (which is our IV-chord).

First the electric guitar plays the riff by itself, and then our acoustic guitar comes in with what we call â€"footballs” which is just held out chords.

So first we do one strum for E major, then a strum for D major (but remember that only lasts 2 beats) and finally A major for 2 beats as well. After that the groove picks up and we'll strum the progression two more times.
