I’m using a Telecaster style guitar set to the bridge pickup, but any guitar is suitable. The tones have more to do with the amp and effects choices. You’ll need a slide to play some of the fills in this tune.

As far as amps go, any Fender style tube amp is a desirable choice. Set the amp for a clean sound with a touch of grit. Set the Drive to 35%, Bass to 45%, Mid to 55%, Treble to 60%, and Presence to 60%.

For the lead guitar, use an overdrive or boost pedal for slightly more gain and edge for the fills. Guitar 2 also uses a auto-filter effect (such as a “Mutron”) on some of the fills for a funky quacking type sound. This effect can be approximated by kicking a wah pedal in and out for each fill. Use reverb on both guitars for depth.

I’m using 10-46 gage and with a heavy pick with both guitars.

Here are the settings I used:

Fender Deluxe Model:
Drive: 35% Bass: 45% Mid: 55% Treb: 60% Presence: 60%
Tube Screamer (Guitar 2):
Drive: 30% Tone: 70% Level: 60%
Reverb: WetDryMIX: 40%
