Chicks And Fills

In this channel episode Anders will show you all about chicks and fills!

The tip of the week is to try different pickup combinations on your guitar. Most electrics guitars have more than one pickup. And even though you might be really used to one particular setting, it's a great idea to experiment with all the possible configurations that are possible on your guitar. It's a great way to find new ideas, tones and inspiration!

This week's lesson is how to approach rhythm guitar by playing in a rhythmical style using "chicks and fills". This approach relies on a lot of short staccato stabs and muting. The idea is to lock in with the drums in a band setting. This helps keep the full band sound from getting too muddled.

The chicks are meant to work with the snare drum playing on the backbeat, beats 2 and 4.

The fills are meant to be short licks in between chicks to add a little interesting variety.
