King Of The Capo

Anders is here with another channel episode.

The tip of the week is for those of you who like to use capos, and the tip is to use a capo with a spring in it, as opposed to the classic ones you have to tighten manually. This means that it's quick
to put on and when you're not using it, you just clamp it on to the headstock like this.

For the lesson this week Anders will show you a new creative way to use a capo. Most people know how to use a capo across all six strings, but it can be a lot of fun to leave a string ringing open, particularly the low E-string.

So the classic way to use a capo is once again to make sure it's barring across all 6 strings and that all the strings are ringing open. Most often you have to tune again once you add the capo.

Now put the capo in the 2nd fret, but leave the low E-string ringing open. It can be a little tricky to do. Then you retune real quick.

Now we have what's essentially a drop D tuning, only our chords will look the same.

If you are excited to go explore some new sounds with your capo then GT has other lessons that cover using it in more detail.
