In this lesson we're going to learn a chord strumming techniques that's fundamental to country guitar style playing. It's called Boom Chick strumming. It's also called root-5 strumming. In this

technique you rhythmically separate the root note & the 5th from the rest of the chord in order to create the illusion of there being a bass player in your acoustic guitar. This also give a lot

of motion & interest to an otherwise static sounding one-dimensional guitar chord. I'm sure you'll recognize the sound of this classic bass movement when you hear it, and in this tutorial we're

going to incorporate it into your right hand strumming.

This can be a bit tricky at first, but once you get it down you basically have a full one-man-country band in just your right hand.
