Today we are going to learn how to play "Summertime" as recorded by Janis Joplin's Big Brother and the Holding Co. in 1968. This is a Jazz standard by George Gershwin covered by a classic rock band! Not only do we get Jazz and Rock but Sam Andrew, of Big Brother, also incorporates classical lines as well. From clean and contrapuntal melodic lines to full-blown rock lines, this song is a great example and study in ensemble playing and extreme dynamics. A true product of the 60's!

In this tutorial we will talk about tone and gear, well learn Gtr1 Intro, Gtr2 intro, Guitar 1 verse 1, Guitar 2 verse 1, Guitar solo 1, Guitar solo 2, Guitar 1 verse 2 and Guitar 2 verse 2. The song is in G minor, in 12/8 time with a quarter note of approximately 60 BPM.
