First things first! Let's learn the acoustic motif that we hear in the intro, all throughout our verses, and our bridge. We will playing a very specific arpeggiated part that outlines the chords of the progression and sits really nice with the rhythm section.

You will play this part the same way for the verses and bridge as well.

The chord progression we are playing, in our altered tuning is Cmaj7 - Gsus - Ami7 - F6/9. Each chord is played for one bar, making the progression four bars long. We are playing each chord with a steady, eighth note rhythm that plays the entire time. The first three chords are played with the same notes on top, with only the bass notes changing.

The last chord is the only one that changes. You continue to play with a steady eighth note pulse, but you will change up the last note of the arpeggio.

You will play this part all over the song. This includes one time in the intro, three times for each of the two verses, one time during the interlude after the first chorus, and twice during the bridge.
