In this tutorial we are going to learn how to play "Far Away" as performed by Nickelback. This modern rock, power ballad features a low tuned acoustic guitar playing a mixture of arpeggios and open chord strumming leading the charge. We also have an electric guitar playing in the choruses as well, giving us a plethora of cool guitar parts to learn and play along with. There is also some cool modulation in the song as well, where we take the key of the song up a whole step to end it.

Both guitars are tuned a half step down to Eb, with the lowest Eb on the acoustic tuned down to Db. That makes our tuning in Dropped D, a half step down. To make it easier for the tutorial, I am going to refer to the strings and notes on the guitar neck as they are in standard tuning. But remember, you must have your guitar in this tuning to play a long; especially the acoustic guitar parts.

"Far Away" is in the Key of C major, at 132 BPM, and in 4/4 time.
