Let's smooth jazz it up a bit here. We'll just lay four-note chords and hold them for two bars each. This makes for great practice with a friend, taking turns to solo.

The first chord is a 1st inversion of a C major chord, but since A is so prominent in the bass, we will get an Am7 sound.

The next chord is G/A (considering the A in the bassline), or A7sus4add9.

Next we play a 1st inversion D major chord, which over A in the bass can be called an Asus4add13.

Finally, we will play just a standard A major chord. See how we went from A minor to A major here? Pretty cool!
