My acoustic of choice for this song is a nylon-string classical guitar. Willie Nelson is well known for playing this type of guitar throughout his whole career, and this tune is no exception. That said, any acoustic guitar can be used to play this song.

A Telecaster guitar is the absolute go-to electric guitar choice for this song. The Tele provides a bright, spanky tone perfect for a country classic like this. If you don't have access to a Tele, any guitar with a single coil pickup in the bridge position can get you very close to the tone required.

As far as amps go, any Fender-style tube amp is a fine choice. Set the amp for a bright clean sound. Add some reverb for depth.
For the electric, I used a 10-46 string gage, with a heavy pick so I can dig right into those licks and fills and get spanky with it!

Here are the settings I used:

Fender Deluxe Model:
Drive: 30% Bass: 45% Mid: 45% Treb: 70% Presence: 75%
Spring Reverb:
WetDryMIX: 45%
