For this tutorial I'm going to be using a Les Paul, and I'll be running that through a modeled version of a Marshall Plexi amp. I have the amp volume cranked so I get a lot of nice and screechy distortion. The Marshall Plexi gives me a nice and bluesy hi-gain sound as opposed to the more metal sounding hi-gain sound you get from other amps.

But that's just a matter of context and preference. Make sure to use your bridge pickup for the examples and try messing around with the amount of distortion and the treble in your tone as you're experimenting with the technique. This is one of those times where tone and the technique go hand in hand.
