First we are going to learn how to play the intro to our song, which is very similar to the chord progression in the chorus. This will also be an introduction to the percussive and finger picking techniques we will be using all throughout the song. Here are some key points to help you through it:

1. The intro is sixteen bars long.

2. All chords are played with the same type of percussive finger picking, emphasizing the 1 and 3 with your thumb and the 2 and 4 with your other fingers. You will be applying a downstroke with the tops of your fingers and an upstroke with the bottom of your fingers creating an eighth note rhythm. This helps add that percussive element to your playing while still retaining a strumming sound.

3. All the chords are played fairly straight ahead, except the Dmi7/C can almost sound like a Dmi to C if you aren't careful. The guitarist isn't playing those open strings like you might think, so make sure to work that into the progression to really help it sound authentic.
