It's very important that you start out slowly and really get your fingers to go where they're supposed to before you move on with this song, it should flow naturally and your hands should be relaxed and comfortable.

It may take a second to get your fingering straight but once you do it's such a great reward and it'll come to you naturally; just start out by practicing slowly.

Here you have a really great opportunity to convey some really subtle emotion with your guitar playing. The guitar won't get closer to you (or you to your guitar) than when you're finger picking and here you should take advantage of that.

I'd recommend any guitar player to always be practicing some sort of finger picking - song or exercise, it doesn't really matter - it's just a very good and intimate way of knowing your instrument.
