"An Honest Mistake" starts off with a lengthy intro full of cool melodies and effects. The guitar comes in after 8 bars, with a wall of reverb and sustain to start us off. Here are some key points to help you through it:

1. The intro is 24 bars long, with the guitar entering after 8 bars. It stays in for 16, playing two melodies that are each 8 bars long.

2. The first melody starts to crescendo in on A on the A string for one bar, and plays for 2 more bars. The melody will play slightly anticipated from there, playing a melody derived from the D minor scale.

3. The second melody starts with a slide up the high E string, and starts off on C on the 20th fret. This repetitive motif continues and will resolve on a sixth interval, playing F and D (of D minor.)

4. Note that the anticipations all revolve around the keyboard rhythm. This will help you nail the odd rhythms during the first half.
