How a Vox Amp Sounds

Now let's find some cool settings to use for the riff, and then check out what it sounds like with the backing track. "Brilliant" typically sounds great with humbuckers, so today I'll be using the "normal" channel to fatten up the single coil sound.

I hope you've gotten a good impression and understanding of these three very common guitar amps used in rock, and maybe you already know which sound you want to imitate with your gear. As I mentioned earlier, demoing amps by playing the same thing is a little besides the point, since the whole idea with gear is that all the different gear makes you play in different ways.

So keep that in mind as you're learning about gear; there's no right or wrong. It's just a matter of finding gear that matches what you hear in your head and inspires you to have fun while playing! If you think your tone tone is cool, you'll play well and that's the most important thing.
