A Telecaster type guitar is the authentic choice for this song, but any guitar with a single coil pickup in the bridge position will yield a close approximation to the tone on the record.

Any acoustic guitar will work well here, but one with a brighter tone will help cut through the rest of the band. You'll need a capo placed on the 2nd fret as well. The capo allows us to use simple open chord shapes, and produces a brighter sound up the neck a bit.

As far as amps go, any Fender style tube amp will do the trick. Set for mild crunch and add lots of reverb for that authentic 80s sound! Check out the settings I used:

Fender Deluxe Model: Drive: 85% Bass: 50% Mid: 70% High: 50% Presence: 90%

Spring Reverb: Wet/DryMIX: 65%
