The chords in this song include D, G, A, and E minor. After taking a look at these chords individually, we'll consider the concept of "chord connections" - a way to get our brains to start thinking about our fingers as independent citizens instead of a big paw.

By making sure we have the very tip of our finger on the string, and applying pressure downward into the fingerboard, we learn to fret an accurate chord with the strings we are fretting sounding clean. The strings that should be ringing open, unimpeded by the back or side of an adjacent finger.

We begin to use our fingers independently yet symmetrically, and start to understand that good chords are as much about placement and finesse as they are about squeezing the heck out of the neck and using the entire left side of your body to accomplish the task.
