The chords we will be working with today will be open or first position C, G, and A minor chords. We'll think about how these chords are connected and how to approach good left hand technique.

As beginners we want to make sure that we are using the tips of our fingers on the fingerboard that our knuckles are high and symmetrical indicating an even use of strength across all of the fingers.

If you have already succeeded with what we'll call beginner G (using the 1st, 2nd and 3rd fingers), consider taking on the more advanced and useful version using the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fingers. Many beginners avoid using the left fourth finger as it is our weakest and least developed digit. All the more reason to start growing some strength and dexterity now!
