F1: Lick 1

We'll start really simple!

This lick is nothing more than a double stop at the 12th fret (B string and E string) that we slide out down the neck.

Things to watch out for:

Make sure you're muting the D string and the G string so that they don't accidentally ring when you pick.

Funk picking is usually pretty aggressive, and you pick from a distance, making it hard to just hit the strings you're targeting, which is why muting is so important.

As a bonus, the muted strings add to the sound, giving it more of a percussive feel.
