The chorus riff combines barre chord shapes with open strings. Grab an A barre chord shape at the 5th position, but leave the high E and B strings open. This gives a cool Asus2 sound. Simply move the shape around the fretboard while still leaving those high strings ringing open.

This is a very useful concept when coming up with your own parts and riffs.

Also notice how the G and F chords at the end of the chorus bring an ominous mood to the section and set up the arrival of the verse section again.
