The reverse gallop is nothing but our standard gallop playing backwards. This means it consists of two 16th notes followed by an 8th note. Imaginge a steady 16th note pulse, and omit the fourth 16th note in every group of four.

The reverse gallop is more common in modern metal than the standard gallop. It has a more aggressive sound to it and sounds darker.

The picking pattern should be down, up, down, down, up, down and so on.
