GUITAR: Choose any guitar with single coil pickups like a strat or telecaster. The single coils give you a bright, twangy bite that is perfect for the riffing and soloing in this tune.

AMP: Any Marshall style tube amp is a great choice here. Crank up some preamp gain to get some nice crunch, but nothing over the top. Notice that the rhythm guitar in the right speaker uses much less distortion that the guitar in the left speaker, so choose the amount of gain to your own taste. Here are the amp and effect settings I used for this tutorial:

Marshall Plexi Model: Drive: 50% Bass: 45% Mid: 75% Treble: 75% Presence: 65%

Slap Back Echo: Time: 145ms Feedback: 15% Wet/DryMix: 35%

For the lead guitar parts, crank up the gain (distortion) to give you more sustain and power in the soloing sections.
