The tune opens with volume swells on a heavily effected guitar. You'll also hear these swells occur in the verse sections. See the tone/gear lesson to help you set up the correct effects for this part.

Fret the chord up at the 12th position. This is a F# minor shape with the 4th note (B note) added in for some texture. Start with your volume pot down, pick the chord, then bring your volume pot up to sound the chord.

The intro section is free time, while the verses provide a little more structure for doing the swells. Also notice that the first swell in each verse are F# octaves up at the 9th fret.

Scrape your pick sideways across the strings to get the pick slides down. With the effects, notice how it sounds like underwater type noises, coupling nicely with the lyrics.
