This song is built on a simple three chord progression: C Bb F C. The part is played with a classic blues feel where each chord is fingered as a power chord and the pinky is used to add color via the sixth of the chord. Notice that there is an eighth note pick-up or anticipation to each chord and during the first two times through the progression the anticipation includes a fourth which moves to the fifth on the down beat.

After the first eight measures, when the lead guitar enters, the rhythm guitar part changes subtly. The fourth is omitted from the pick-ups and the last C of the progression is played on the down beat. There is also more of a consistent eighth note feel to propel the song forward. These are nice variations and help to keep the rhythm part from sounding monotonous!
